Barcelona vs Roma Preview

After a two-week sabbatical from Champions League football, we are able to enjoy the matchup between Barcelona and Roma in the quarter finals. Roma will be tested with an uphill battle when they travel to Barcelona to meet Messi, Suarez and the rest of the Barca team. This match will undoubtedly be full of action and goals, even if Messi has to do it all by himself.

Five-time Champions League winners, Barcelona, will be looking to breeze past Roma in this last eight match up with the first leg coming at home. After knocking out Chelsea and still being unbeaten in La Liga, everyone is wondering who can stop this Barca team lead by Messi. After reaching his 100th goal in the Champions League, Messi has been on fire as he now has six goals in the Champions League this season and 34 goals in all competitions. If Messi and Suarez are on their game this tie will surely be over and done with. This Barcelona team will fancy themselves to press on in this competition.

Roma, however, have enjoyed a fairly decent campaign and should be happy to have advanced to the Quarter Finals after beating Shakhtar Donetsk on away goals. Dzeko is Roma`s best attacking force in the Champions League, scoring four goals and contributing three assists, more than anyone else on the team. While Roma are far off the title in Serie A, they have had some positives to the season like the emergence of youngster Cengiz Under, who has become quite a threat down the right wing. If they are able to get these two players going, and have strong defensive play, they may just make it uncomfortable for Barca.

After looking at the two teams, how they have fared so far in the tournament and the Barcelona vs Roma betting odds, I believe that there is no way Barcelona can lose this leg at home. I predict Barca to win 3-0 with Messi scoring at least one of the goals. I would also heavily favour Barcelona to continue on in the Champions League.
