Las Palmas 1 Barcelona 1 - Valverde`s Views

Las Palmas 1 Barcelona 1 - Valverde`s Views

A point each was the outcome against Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands, last night.

But, after the game, the Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde, was left to rue the fact his side didn`t take all the three points available due to a combination of not taking their chances and conceding a penalty that was, for most observers, a little puzzling.

Talking to the media, before boarding the return flight to Barcelona, Valverde had this to say to the media about the events of last night,

'The penalty came as a shock to us because of how it was awarded.

'We felt that they equalised with an 'invisible' penalty. They grew stronger after that and we played in too much of a hurry.

'We really wanted to leave here with three points. In the first half we felt we were always creating danger and their players kept on picking up yellow cards. We went ahead in the first half but it was not a big enough margin.'

Indeed it wasn`t and Barcelona now head into a pulsating clash this weekend when they welcome second-placed Atletico Madrid to the Camp Nou with their opponents having won their last eight-games and also being the only side in the top-four to win during this round of fixtures.
