Valencia 0 Barcelona 2 Copa del Rey (0-3 on aggregate)

Last night, at the Mestalla, Barcelona eased into the Copa del Rey Final with a convincing win against Valencia.

The 3-0 aggregate win means that Barcelona will be contesting a record fifth successive final.

Leading 1-0 from the first leg, at the Camp Nou, neither side could break the deadlock in a goalless first fort-five minutes.

However, four minutes into the second-half, Barcelona made it 1-0 on the night and 2-0 on aggregate when Philippe Coutinho, on as a second-half substitute, scored his first goal for Barcelona since arriving at the Camp Nou, for £142 million in the January transfer window.

The Brazilian managed to get on the end of a cross from Luis Suarez to turn the ball home.

Leading 2-0 on aggregate, Barcelona were in the driving seat and wrapped up the semi-final tie in the eight-second minute when Ivan Rakitic finished off a quick counter-attack.

In the final, on 21 April, Barcelona will face Sevilla.

However, Valencia will point to rare chances they had which could have turned the match in their favour.

With the score at 0-0, the game could have taken on a whole new complexion if a header from Rodrigo had gone in instead of crashing against the crossbar.

There was also a chance for Jose Luis Gaya but Cillessen, deputising for ter Stegen, produced a good point-blank save to deny our hosts.

Onwards and upwards for Barcelona as their remarkable season continues.
