Preview: Barcelona vs Valencia Copa Del Rey Semi-Final

The Copa Del Rey Semi Final second leg between Barcelona and Valencia will be held on Thursday 8 January at the Mestalla stadium. Looking ahead at this match, it would be foolish not to note the extremely good season that Barcelona are having. Undefeated in La Liga and strong runs in both the Copa Del Rey and Champions League, we can only predict that this form will continue.

The first leg was held at the Camp Nou and ended with a score line of 1-0 in favour of the home team, with the goal being scored by Luis Suarez. Nine of the last ten goals scored by Barcelona have been scored by either Messi or Suarez, with them in top form like this, it is going to be difficult for Valencia to contain these two.

The last meeting between these two sides held at the Mestalla, in La Liga, ended in a 1-1 draw with Jordi Alba grabbing the late equalizer after Barca had a goal disallowed.

Barcelona are undefeated in 32 of their last 34 matches in the Copa Del Rey and are also undefeated in 23 of their last 25 matches against Valencia. Los Che on the other hand have had a dreadful run of form as of late and have lost their last 5 games in all competitions, which is reflected in the 888sport odds for the match.

With the Catalan side in strong form and their main goal scorers having a decent return as of late, it is very difficult to not back them. However, Pique has become a doubt for this second leg struggling with a slight knee problem. With this doubt in defense, Valencia might just have a few more chances at their home ground.

With these statistics taken into account it is very difficult to predict anything that doesn`t at least see the Blaugrana coming out on top in aggregate. Therefore, I am going to give the edge to Barca with a predicted final score of 2-1.
