Barcelona 3 Levante 0

Barcelona 3 Levante 0

A win at the Camp Nou, against Levante, maintained Barcelona`s unbeaten run and stretched the lead at the top of La Liga to nine points.

With the win, Barcelona opened the gap between themselves and Real Madrid to seventeen points with our rivals playing Celta Vigo in their fixture later tonight.

As usual, Lionel Messi had a huge impact on the game.

Making his 400th appearance for Barcelona, it was Messi that opened the scoring. With just twelve minutes played, Messi played a ball to Jordi Alba and when the ball was returned Messi volleyed it home in spectacular fashion.

The goal was Messi`s 365th La Liga goal and the Argentine has now equalled the number of goals in a single one of Europe`s top five leagues, a record he shares with the legendary Gerd Muller, but a record that will surely be his own in a matter of weeks at the most.

Barcelona went 2-0 up in the thirty-eighth minute when Luis Suarez produced a stunning finish.

Two goals to the good at half-time, Barcelona had to wait until stoppage time for the third goal when Paulinho, in the ninety-third minute, was on hand to provide an easy finish to a Messi cross.

Levante created very few chances during the match, the best probably coming when Marc-Andre ter Stegen was forced into action to deny Shaquell Moore when he was in on a one-on-one situation.

The win makes it 26 matches in all competitions since Barcelona were last beaten, things are looking good under the tenure of Ernesto Valverde.
