Valverde Warns of Complacency Ahead of Deportivo Game

Valverde Warns of Complacency Ahead of Deportivo Game

Next weekend, Barcelona take on Real Madrid in the first 'clasico` fixture of the season.

However, before that fixture takes centre-stage, there is the small matter of taking the three points on offer against Deportivo La Coruna this Sunday.

Ahead of the game, at his pre-match press conference, Ernesto Valverde has stressed the importance of ensuring his side remain fully focussed on the threat Deportivo will present as opposed to looking forward to the Real Madrid clash, with Valverde remarking,

'What we're thinking about doing is winning our game tomorrow.

'There's no point worrying about next week's game before thinking about tomorrow's game.

'I don't think that the Real match has affected the players, they are concerned about tomorrow. So no, by no means whatsoever are we distracted by the Clasico.'

Before adding, to emphasise his point,

'I recall the game against Celta."

A game which Barcelona could only draw 2-2, thereby ending a run of 18 consecutive La Liga victories in front of their home crowd.

'We're not guaranteed a win when we play here at the Nou Camp so we have to think about tomorrow and then turn the page and look to the Clasico.'

Let`s hope complacency isn`t a word that springs to mind after the final whistle this evening and that we`re celebrating three more points in our quest to regain the La Liga title.
