Barcelona v Celta Viga Preview

Barcelona v Celta Viga Preview

This Saturday, in the early lunch-time La Liga kick-off, Barcelona welcome Celta Viga to the Camp Nou.

After the draw away to Valencia last time out, Barcelona will be looking to get back to winning ways and maintain the gap between themselves and their nearest challengers, as well as preserving their unbeaten start to the season.

On the injury front, Ernesto Valverde will welcome back to the squad both Sergi Roberto and Andre Gomes. Roberto returned to first-team action in the Copa del Rey fixture in midweek whilst Gomes will be making his first appearance since picking up an injury against Olympiakos in the Champions League.

Celta Viga will arrive at the Camp Nou with a very familiar face as their manager, Juan Carlos Unzue.

Unzue is a former Barcelona player who also spent three years at the Camp Nou as the assistant to Luis Enrique.

Ernesto Valverde, at his pre-match press conference, had this to say about the person in the opposite dug-out this Saturday,

'Unzue is very studious and the fact he knows the team so well makes him dangerous,'

'In the end, when you play against Barca you try different things. I know because I have been up against them a lot.

'We know they have picked up results in the last few years against us and we will take it into account. Past results don't tell you everything, but we have to be careful.

'With Unzue as coach that means they have a very clear way of playing. They want to take the initiative in the game and they will want to do that at Camp Nou.

'I played with Unzue in 1988 and we have met a lot of times, he's a great person and I wish him the best.'

Let`s hope that any friendship is put on hold until after the game and that Barcelona don`t suffer a blip against a team that, sometimes, has tripped us up in the past.
