Barcelona to Release Funds for January Signings

Although Barcelona are doing remarkably well so far this season, with the side unbeaten in both La Liga and the Champions League, it seems that January 2018 could still see the squad further strengthened.

The good folk of the news source the Sport, are reporting that the Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu, has approved plans to provide Ernesto Valverde with funds to improve the squad.

Our source goes on to suggest that Barcelona are looking to bring a centre-back and a proven goal-scorer to the club.

As far as the speculation goes, our source heavily hints that the proven goal-scorer could well be the Atletico Madrid striker, Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann has a £88 million buy-out clause in his contract and whilst Barcelona were interested in signing the French international last summer, the deal didn`t happen as Atletico Madrid, his club, were banned from signing a replacement and Griezmann felt obliged to remain at the club.

However, that transfer ban ends in January 2018 and the opportunity may exist to bring the player to the Camp Nou.
