Barcelona Targeting Chelsea Defender

Barcelona Targeting Chelsea Defender

As we may have stated before, the transfer window is currently closed, however, it doesn`t stop transfer speculation appearing in the media.

This morning, courtesy of the English news source, the Daily Mail, we`ve stumbled across a piece of speculation linking Barcelona with a move for a Spanish left-back who is currently playing in the English Premier League.

The defender in question is Marcos Alonso, who is on the books of the reigning Premier League title holders Chelsea and is seen as a long-term replacement for Jordi Alba.

Alonso, 26-years-of-age, joined Chelsea in the summer of 2016, on transfer deadline day.

Signed from the Italian side Fiorentina, Alonso has enjoyed a remarkable eighteen-months in England, creating a reputation as a solid defender who is able to get forward to create opportunities for the attack, whilst also becoming something of a dead-ball expert from just outside the area.

However, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea would be willing to lose their asset or indeed whether Alonso would want to return to Spain.

We`ll endeavour to keep you updated.
