CL Group - Barcelona 3 Juventus 0

CL Group - Barcelona 3 Juventus 0

Last night, at an atmospheric Camp Nou, Barcelona produced a scintillating display to open their Champions League campaign with a win, a comfortable 3-0 win.

The fact that the win came against the very team that knocked Barcelona out of the competition, at the quarter-final stage, last season, made it all the more pleasing.

A game that always threatened to be a tight game, was opened up just before half-time when Lionel Messi exchanged passes with Luis Suarez and saw his shot go into the net off of the post.

Messi was playing an influential part in proceedings, just as you`d expect, and was involved with the second goal as well, the Argentine superstar saw his shot cleared off the line only for Juventus` misery to be compounded with Ivan Rakitic netting the clearance.

The game was wrapped up when Lionel Messi scored his second goal of the game, this time courtesy of a fine left-footed effort from just outside the area, the goal coming after Messi had come in off the right wing and beating several defenders before unleashing his shot.

Barcelona have started the season well and have yet to concede a goal, long may it continue.
