Champions League - Barcelona v Juventus Preview
Tonight, the Camp Nou will witness a Champions league fixture between two of Europe`s finest clubs, when Barcelona take on Juventus.
The fixture may only be the opening fixture in Group D but it has the potential to set the tone for the remainder of the group.
Last season, at the quarter-final stage, Barcelona exited the competition losing the tie 3-0 on aggregate.
A win tonight may not be classed as revenge but it`d certainly go down well.
Ahead of the game, the Juventus manager, Massimiliano Allegri, has praised Barcelona remarking at the pre-match press conference,
'Along with Real Madrid they are favourites to win the Champions League.
'They've lost Neymar and replaced him with a youngster in Ousmane Dembele - but they remain, along with Real, one of the two strongest teams in the world.'
In the aforementioned quarter-final tie, Juventus kept clean-sheets on both occasion, but Allegri would be amazed if his side made it three-in-a-row against Barcelona, further adding,
'We know that playing three games in a row against Barcelona - considering the two of last year - without conceding a goal, would be very difficult, even if Juve could do it.'
As for our own boss, Ernesto Valverde, who has started the La Liga season with three straight wins, he had this to say to the media,
'We are ready to face an exciting competition and to start with a win means a lot in such a short league.
'Juventus are a powerful team that distribute the ball well from the back and who try to press high. They have a great coach and great players, all of whom must be taken into account, not just Paulo Dybala.'
It promises to be a fascinating encounter, but can Barcelona take the three points on offer?
