Abidal Named a Barcelona Ambassador

Abidal Named a Barcelona Ambassador

Spreading the word around the globe is essential in this age whereby the Barcelona brand is looking to keep the club at the very top of the world of football.

The latest former Barcelona player to be granted this privilege is Eric Abidal.

The Frenchman spent a wonderful seven years at the Camp Nou during which he helped Barcelona to win fifteen trophies which included two Champions League trophies and four La Liga titles.

Unfortunately, illness struck Abidal when, during his time with Barcelona, he was found to have a tumour on his liver.

The severity of the tumour was such that Abidal was forced to have a liver transplant.

But, remarkably, Abidal recovered to play again for Barcelona.

Now thirty-seven years-old, the Frenchman has remarked about his new role, to the official Barca web-site,

"It makes me really happy to be officially part of the club.

"We`ve been talking for a long time. As ambassador, I`ll try and present the club in the best way possible, in different countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia."

Here at Vital Barcelona we`re sure that Abidal will do the role justice and we wish him well.
